Penetration Grade Bitumen
The Conventional Foundation
Penetration Grade Bitumen is the standard binding material used primarily in the paving of asphalt concrete. Its classification is based on its consistency, which is measured by the depth in tenths of a millimeter, or 0.1mm that a standard loaded needle penetrates a bitumen sample under controlled conditions 25∘C. It is the classic, cost-effective choice for constructing durable and long-lasting road surfaces under moderate climatic and traffic conditions.
